APD and JMS to sponsor the club in 2008

By webmaster on 14 January 2008

The club can announce developments on the sponsorship front for 2008 and beyond. APD and also JMS will sponsor Dumfries Cricket Club in 2008.

Firstly, and importantly, APD (Amber Programmable Design Ltd) will continue to be the main club sponsor for 2008. This will be the third year that the company, whose main base is in Annan, have been our main sponsors and they have supported the club for our entire time in the Scottish national league.

APD Dumfries will be playing their first SNCL league game on the 26th April at home. The APD motto for their work in industrial process control systems is "Control with Power". The firsts couldn't really have a more apt slogan to follow in their quest for a successful cricket season. For more detailed information on APD and their local sponsorship support see the sponsors section of the website.

The club can also unveil a new sponsor, although it will be a familiar name to those who have closely followed the development of new facilities at Nunholm. JMS Cricket Ltd are to sponsor the club this year. They are the ground sponsors and home fixtures will now be taking place at JMS Nunholm.

The ground sponsorship is very appropriate since JMS have been the suppliers to the club of the artificial wicket, the invaluable covers, the most recent sightscreens and, in the biggest project undertaken at the club in sometime, of the new three lane artificial nets which were landed in 2007. All of this work means that Dumfries have some of the best facilities in Scotland.

JMS are based in Keighley in Yorkshire and are specialists in the design and manufacture of cricket ground equipment. They are suppliers throughout the UK to both club and county sides, including Yorkshire CCC, Northamptonshire and Hampshire. (However the photo of our covers is actually above the ones at Headingley if their website is examined closely!). The sponsors section has further details.

Of course we all have to do our bit to earn this degree of sponsorship and level of support. So public mention of the club does need to use the team and ground names appropriately with APD Dumfries (1sts) playing at home at JMS Nunholm this season.

Also there still definitely needs to be other levels of sponsorship pursued so if you know of suitable companies to advertise on the boundary boards or sponsor matches and match balls please let the sponsorship convenor, Ross Laidlaw, or the club know.
